Detox Keto Green Smoothie. With lemon, kale and parsley, this gorgeous healthy green smoothie is great for detox! This is the best green smoothie we’ve made by far and it doesn’t taste bitter or earthy like some green smoothies. Best thing is it’s whipped up in less than 5 minutes!
What sets this smoothie apart from the rest is our secret ingredient…mint! The mint adds a subtle sweetness to balance out the kale, so the flavor isn’t too overwhelming.
It’s loaded with antioxidants and fiber (7 grams per smoothie!) to help keep you fuller longer. We like to whip up this smoothie for breakfast about once a week.
It’s super quick and easy to make which we always love. Plus, you can drink it on the way to work or running errands so there’s really no excuse not to make this in the morning…unless you forget to pick up the ingredients that is haha.
Green Smoothie Benefits
Some benefits of drinking green smoothies that come straight to mind are 1) the convenience of a portable drink/breakfast, 2) antioxidants, vitamins and minerals from all of the fruit, vegetables and herbs, 3) fiber.
One benefits that you might not really know about is DETOXING. Now we’re not talking about some green smoothie cleanse or some green smoothie diet where we claim you’ll lose weight super fast.
Instead we are talking about liver detox! Now this is going to get a little bit scientific so if you don’t really care to hear about it then just keep scrolling down for the recipe LOL.
Kale is one of the stars of this recipe and it contains compounds called glucosinolates and methyl cysteine sulfoxides. These 2 substances have the ability to activate detoxifying enzymes in the liver that help neutralize potentially carcinogenic substances.
Glucosinolates which are present in kale appear have been shown to decrease the occurrence of a wide variety of cancers, including breast, bladder and ovarian cancers.

How to make a green smoothie keto
To make this green smoothie low carb, we omitted all high carb fruits. We also did not add any caloric sweeteners such as coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup or the sort.
Instead we opted to to sweeten this smoothie with liquid stevia extract. It is our go to low carb sweetener. If you want to know our other favorite sweeteners, check out this post we wrote about low carb sweeteners for a keto diet.
To make this keto green smoothie, first add the coconut milk, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, stevia, kale, avocado, parsley, and mint to a blender. Next process until smooth.
Then added the ice cubes and pulse until thick and creamy, tamping down as necessary. Finally, pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Green Smoothie Nutrition
This super green smoothie packs a wallop of nutrition! It’s made with kale, avocado, and parsley. For vitamin K, it meets 140% of the RDA for men and 188% of the RDA for women.
Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and bone metabolism. If you’re on blood thinner medication, check with your doctor before eating ingredients rich in vitamin K, such as kale.
Kale is also high in carotenoids, especially lutein and zeaxanthin. These 2 carotenoids help prevent the eyes from overexposure to ultraviolet light.
Studies have shown the protective effect of these nutrients against the risk of cataracts, by preventing oxidation of proteins or lipids within the lens. To learn more, check out this article on carotenoids and cataracts.
