When you grew up, I’m sure your family made hard boiled eggs the old fashioned way. For years, there was only one way to hard boil eggs – in a pot on the stove!
For this method, you would place your eggs in a large pot with a few inches of water, and boil for 6-10 minutes.
This method works, but often leads to over or undercooking your egg or losing half of your eggs in the shell. For foolproof eggs every time, cook your hard boiled eggs in an Instant Pot!

As you know, we love our Instant Pot! To hard boil eggs in your Instant Pot, first add ½ to 1 cup of water in bottom. Next place a trivet in bottom of pot (silicone or metal), and arrange 12 eggs on the trivet.
Then put the lid on the Instant Pot and make sure the knob on top says sealed or closed. After that press manual, and choose high pressure for 5 minutes. Pressure will rise, and then your eggs will being to cook.
Once eggs have cooked (timer ends), do a 5 minute natural pressure release and then release the remaining pressure. Then take the top off the Instant Pot and put eggs in an ice water bath so they can be easily peeled.
