Disclosure: We’re super excited to announce that we partnered with Vital Proteins to make our Bulletproof Matcha Latte recipe. Vital Proteins compensated for our time; however, all opinions expressed are our own. Thank you for supporting the brands that help make this blog possible!
This Bulletproof Matcha Latte isn’t your average matcha latte. We combined matcha powder with collagen peptides and healthy fats to bring you the best bulletproof matcha latte recipe.
I’ve been trying to wean myself off of bulletproof coffee lately and then I realized, it’s not the coffee that I’m missing per se. Instead, it’s the morning routine I’m missing.
To replace my morning bulletproof coffee routine, I tried my luck at making a Bulletproof Matcha Latte.
I already had Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, coconut oil, and ghee on hand, so I purchased some matcha powder and the rest was history! This bulletproof matcha recipe is so easy to make, and whips up in minutes!
What does a Bulletproof Matcha Latte taste like?
Matcha by itself has an earthy or grassy taste, but in this latte the flavor of matcha is muted. So have no fear, this latte will not taste like you’re drinking a freshly mowed lawn, LOL.
The nutty ghee and slightly sweet coconut oil mellow out the grassy, verdant flavor of the matcha in this matcha latte. Plus, the added vanilla and a hint of sweetness take this latte to the next level!
This bulletproof matcha latte is a well-balanced drink that’s coffee shop quality, but easy to make at home and packed with nutrition.
WHAT IS COLLAGEN?
Collagen is a protein that is made up of arginine, glycine, hydroxyproline, and proline. It’s what makes up our skin, hair, nails, bones, and tendons, and gives them their structure.
Collagen protein is different than casein and whey protein because of the high amounts of these amino acids. Joint health, muscular growth and skin appearance can be partially attributed to the amino acids found in collagen that isn’t found anywhere else.

TYPES OF COLLAGEN
Did you know that collagen is the most abundant protein in our body? In fact there are at least 16 different types of collagen, but 80-90% percent of the collagen in our body is made up of types I, II and III.
TYPE I COLLAGEN
Type I collagen is the most abundant form of collagen in our body. It gives structure to our teeth, skin, tendons, bones, and organs.
TYPE II COLLAGEN
Type II collagen makes up the majority of our cartilage and joints. It provides cartilage with structural support, and includes glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid.
TYPE III COLLAGEN
Type III collagen is found in connective tissues in the skin, lungs, and the vascular system. Type I and Type III collagen are typically found together.
COLLAGEN RECIPES
Adding collagen peptides to a recipe is a great way to add protein, give recipes structure or chewiness like in cookies or fudge. It is also a great way to improve gut health health with a tasty recipe.
WHAT IS MATCHA?
Matcha is from tea plants that are covered from direct sunlight for 20 to 30 days prior to harvest. This increases the chlorophyll content of the tea and gives the plant a darker green color.
After harvest, the tea leaves are then powdered, which is typically how matcha is bought. Matcha is typically dissolved in hot water to make tea; however, it can also be used as a flavor enhancer.
MATCHA BENEFITS
Matcha is high in catechins, which is a class of antioxidants that is thought to have cancer-fighting properties. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals.

Great matcha as far as I can say!
Nak says
Shouldn’t it be nine grams of protein with one scoop of collagen not three?
Faith Gorsky says
Nak, Yes, you’re right, we’re sorry about that! Sometimes the API nutrition calculator can be a little finicky. The collagen peptides add 9g protein to this recipe. The remaining 3g protein are calculated from the matcha powder. However, we’ve noticed a range of protein from different matcha brands (1 teaspoon (2g) of matcha powder can have anywhere from .5 to 1.5g protein), so depending on the brand you use the amount of protein will be slightly different.
