Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
Use 2 forks to shred the pork, and serve with 2 tablespoons of the liquid on top to keep the meat moist.

So we've tried this recipe with searing the pork butt on the stove top prior to adding it to the slow cooker, and our consensus is...it's not worth it! It makes a small fraction of a difference in the taste, but it takes up more time and you have 1 more pan and utensil to wash.If you do end up searing your pork before slow cooking it, make sure that you use a high heat oil like avocado oil, ghee or coconut oil. This is to ensure that you get a nice sear without the risk of heating the oil past it's smoking point.
