This is the Easiest and Best Homemade Guacamole Recipe that you’ll come across!
No Frills Guac is guacamole as it should be; a little acid from fresh lime, mild punch of flavor from garlic, and a hefty pinch of sea salt. Period.
The Best Homemade Guacamole
We got sick of seeing girly guac. Topped with pretty things like chopped red onion and fresh tomato, as girls like to say “for color.” Or with roasted jalapenos “for a kick.”
And sometimes with queso or crispy bacon because they think by adding cheese or bacon it’ll make guac guy-friendly. We got sick of all that bullshit.
We basically want our No Frills Guac as close to avocado as we can get it. And we want to put it on everything.
What’s in guacamole – Guacamole Ingredients
Trust us when we tell you that you don’t need some fancy, over-the-top guacamole recipe to make the perfect guac dip. This simple recipe that we created is honestly the best guacamole recipe, and it’s super fucking easy.
And here’s all that’s in it:
- Haas avocados
- Fresh lime juice
- Sea salt
- Fresh cilantro leaves
Full of flavor and way better than that store bought crap. Plus our homemade guacamole doesn’t have any of that fru fru shit so it won’t break the bank!
How to make guacamole
This is the easiest guacamole recipe ever. Just scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl and mash it with the lime juice, crushed garlic, and sea salt. Then serve with the cilantro leaves on top and that is literally it.
So fucking good. So fucking easy.
How do you make guacamole less spicy?
Well you won’t have any issues with our guacamole recipe being spicy because we don’t add jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes. But if you come across a recipe that does include those, just omit or reduce those to give it a little less spice.
How to make store bought guacamole less spicy
Sometimes your guac is just too damn spicy for your liking. To tone down the heat in your guacamole, we’ve got a few options for you.
- First, you can try adding more lime juice. The acid in the lime will counteract the spiciness in the guac to tame it a bit.
- Another de-spicing method is to add more avocados to your guacamole. Avocado is a very mild flavor, so adding more will help balance out the spice.
- Finally, adding a dairy component, like sour cream or cream cheese, can help cut the spice in your guacamole.
Can you have guacamole on keto?
Abso-fucking-lutely. Guacamole dip is a ketogenic dream. Avocados are high in healthy fats and fiber, and low in carbs, which makes guacamole a perfect keto snack. Whip up our easy guacamole recipe and load that shit onto your favorite keto meals or snacks.
How long does homemade guacamole last?
Homemade guac only lasts about a day or two in the fridge before it starts to turn brown. On the bright side, the brownness of guacamole is actually harmless and can either be scraped off the top or mixed into the rest of the guac.
Once it turns mostly brown, you should probably toss it, but there’s really no written rule for the lifespan of guacamole (unless it’s moldy of course).
How to make guacamole last longer
There are a few things you can do to make your guacamole recipe last longer after it’s made. A great way to keep your guac from browning is to store it in the fridge in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly against the surface. This will reduce the air space and help keep your delicious guacamole that vibrant green color you want.
Another way to keep your guacamole fresh is to add lime or lemon juice. The acid in the lemons and limes not only prevents browning, but also gives your guac that fresh blast of flavor to stimulate your taste buds!
What do you eat with guacamole?
A lot of people eat guacamole on toast or tortilla chips, but that’s boring as fuck and we’re trying to keto this shit up. For a low-carb approach, try guacamole on fried fish, hard boiled or deviled eggs, veggies, a bun-less burger, or any of your other favorite low carb foods.
How healthy is guacamole?
Avocados (the heart and soul of guac) are great for heart health! They are abundant in monounsaturated fats which lower your LDL cholesterol. They are also high in fiber, which helps regulate insulin and keeps your digestive tract in good working condition.
So yeah, as long as you don’t add some weird ass carb-loaded ingredients, guacamole is healthy AND keto! What more could you want, really?
We hope you’re as passionate about guacamole as this gem of a lady is. Enjoy! (The Guacamole Song – Dr. Jean)
